Commercial Real Estate in Memphis and our Galaxy

American Idol comes to Memphis. Bring it on, Simon Cowell.

Signups are at FedExForum on Friday and auditions are on Sunday.

From the Commercial Appeal:

The route to Hollywood could be paved through Memphis for “American Idol” hopefuls, who begin registering Friday for Sunday’s Memphis auditions. Registration begins at FedExForum at 6 a.m. Friday, and will continue until Sunday morning when the auditions begin at 8 a.m.

The show’s producers warn that there is “no guarantee that everyone who registers will be given the opportunity to audition. If our time is running short, the producers may walk around the venue to pick out people to audition based on performing ability, look, style, personality and other actors at producer’s sole discretion …”

There are a ton of rules, so be sure to check out the whole story on The Commercial Appeals’ webpage or go to americanidol.com. They’ve got a whole section dedicated to the Memphis auditions, so make sure to check that out if you’re going to try out.

I’m guessing not too many people that are interested in Real Estate are going to try out, Read more »

Bellevue Baptist rolling out the red carpet for the kiddos.

Todays Commercial Appeal has an article on the renovation going on at Bellevue Baptist in the kids department.

Bellevue Baptist Church is nearing the end of the first phase of an aggressive, $3.6 million round of renovations.

The initial work, which is to be publicly unveiled Sept. 10, consists of the remodeling of part of the children’s area. The total renovation will involve some 60,000 square feet.

Each room will feature carpeted amphitheater-style stadium seating that faces a small stage area where a worship leader and music leader will perform puppet shows, singing and skits, all based on stories from the Bible.

I don’t know why they’d call a church renovation “aggressive”. It looks pretty nice to me.

A little Seattle blogger real estate love

I got a little link love from the number one real estate blog in the Pacific Northwest, Seattle’s Rain City Real Estate Guide. It’s a small mention, but their heart is large.

They’ve also got a great list of real estate blogs going. If you know of one they should add, you should let them know or leave me a comment and I’ll pass it along.

Police activity and a “Person of Interest” in the Sarah Anne Walker murder

There’s more info on the Sarah Anne Walker murder in McKinney Texas. The local McKinney Paper has three new articles up.

Links to the articles are after the jump, but here’s the short story:

The reward has been increased to $50,000 for “information leading to the arrest and convictions of the person or persons responsible for Ms. Walker’s death.”

Also, last Thursday, the police announced they were looking for one “person of interest”, an asian male driving a “newer white Ford Mustang”. They want to talk to him as he may have been a witness to the murder or have more information they can use. The police also said there was a gold GM SUV parked across the street from the model home Sarah Anne Walker was murdered in at about the time of the attack.

On Friday they announced they had found the driver of the SUV. He was another real estate agent working in the area, but he wasn’t able to give the police any new information. They still haven’t found the asian guy who’s a “person of interest”.

Sarah Anne Walker memorial website

I received a comment from Denise on another post with a link to this Sarah Anne Walker memorial website. Scrolling through the pictures puts a very human face on her murder. There are pictures of Sarah with her dad and family, pictures of Sarah at the World Trade Center shortly after the terrorist attacks, and there are pictures of her funeral service.

So very sad.

More attacks on real estate agents documented.

The Mortgage News Daily website has an excellent article on the Sarah Anne Walker murder, with brief excerpts of other attacks on agents.

They raise the point that there don’t appear to be any hard and fast statistics on attacks on real estate agents. Besides the local real estate boards, I don’t even know who would keep those kind of stats, but it seems like someone should be keeping track. If anyone knows of an attack on a real estate agent that is related to their job, please let me know about it. I’ll keep track of all I receive and start documenting any common threads in the attacks.

Here are some of the attacks they mention:

America’s Most Wanted covers McKinney Texas Real Estate Agent murder

John Walshs’ weekly “help us find the bad guy” show, America’s Most Wanted did a piece on the Sarah Anne Walker murder.

Sarah Anne Walker was living a life any aspiring career-woman would love to have. At forty-years-old, Sarah had established a strong foundation for herself and her family. The mother of two was working as a well-known real estate agent in Texas and had recently launched an infomercial.

Cops say they have two teams working this case. One team is learning everything they can about Sarah — that way they’re sure to find out who may have done this. At this point in the investigation, cops say it’s unclear whether Sarah knew her killer or not.

Another team of investigators is taking a closer look at evidence or any clues that may have been left behind following the murder.

Investigators say this isn’t the first time Sarah found herself in a dangerous situation. Read more »

Cops have no suspect, weapon, and no motive in Real Estate Agents’ murder

The local McKinney, Texas newspaper has the latest on the Sarah Anne Walker murder investigation. Nothing.

Three weeks have passed since a house-hunting couple found the body of Sarah Anne Walker, 40, stabbed to death and police have not determined a motive, weapon or suspect responsible for her death as of Friday.

He said they have collected evidence from the scene that is being processed by a state crime lab, but he could not divulge the nature of the items or the evidence. The only pieces of evidence or clues that police have made known to the public so far are Read more »
